University Club of Chicago Wedding – Lauren and Drew

Lauren and Drew’s wedding at the University Club of Chicago was the epitome of classic sophistication with a romantic winter twist. Timeless, elegant, and thoughtfully designed from beginning to end, their February celebration proved that a winter wedding in Chicago can be nothing short of magical. The couple’s story began long before the wedding day — the two met in high school and spent ten years growing up together before finally saying “I do.” There was something incredibly special about celebrating a relationship with that kind of history. The ease, the familiarity, and the deep-rooted connection between them was felt in every moment of the day.

From the start, they embraced the idea of a winter wedding wholeheartedly. While so many celebrations lean into spring and summer, Lauren and Drew intentionally chose a February date, creating an experience that felt unique, intimate, and elevated. Even their wedding weekend reflected that balance — a Valentine’s-inspired rehearsal dinner at Gilt Bar and welcome drinks at Miller’s Pub, followed by a wedding day that leaned fully into a refined, black-tie aesthetic.

The morning unfolded inside the University Club, where Lauren and her bridesmaids gathered for hair and makeup with Rare Bird Beauties. The energy was calm and anticipatory, with a full day ahead in one of Chicago’s most iconic venues. The bridesmaids wore sleek, floor-length black gowns while Drew and his groomsmen were equally sharp in classic black tie.

And then there was Lauren’s dress.

A true showstopper, her gown featured a dramatic ballgown silhouette adorned with appliquéd floral details. Following Lauren and Drew’s first look, the two stepped out onto the balcony for portraits that felt straight out of a movie — Lauren’s gown cascading around her over a bed of snow.  I would hang that photo over my mantlepiece (and I’m sure photographer, Amanda Megan Miller would agree!).

From there, the wedding party ventured out for photos near the Wrigley Building, taking full advantage of Chicago’s iconic architecture and wintry charm.

As guests arrived, ceremony music by BeatMix Music set a refined and romantic tone. The ceremony itself was heartfelt and classic, surrounded by family and friends who had watched Lauren and Drew’s relationship grow over the years.

Following the ceremony, guests moved into cocktail hour in the Library, where one of the most charming details of the day made its debut: escort cards designed as lock-and-key pairings. It was a playful, thoughtful touch that not only reflected the couple’s personality but also added a sense of interaction and discovery for guests finding their seats.

The reception in Cathedral Hall was nothing short of breathtaking. Florals and décor by Juliet Tan Floral Design leaned into a romantic, classic aesthetic, enhancing the already stunning architecture of the space. From custom menus to beautifully layered tablescapes, every detail felt intentional and elevated.

And just when guests thought the night couldn’t get any better — it did.

A surprise gospel choir took the stage, completely transforming the room and bringing an entirely new level of energy to the celebration. It was unexpected, joyful, and one of those unforgettable moments that had every guest on their feet.

From there, the dance floor remained packed as the band carried the party late into the evening, followed by an after-party at the Foundation Room at the House of Blues — the perfect continuation of an already incredible night.

Behind the scenes, this wedding was a beautiful example of thoughtful planning and seamless execution. With a full wedding weekend, multiple venues, and a detailed timeline, our role was to ensure every transition felt effortless — from rehearsal dinner to ceremony, from cocktail hour to the final song. By managing logistics, vendor coordination, and timing throughout the day, we allowed Lauren and Drew to stay fully present and simply enjoy the celebration they had waited ten years for. Cheers to you both!
