Palmer House Wedding – Laura and Mike

March 3, 2017

George Street Photo

It took only one meeting with Laura, Mike, and Nancy (mother of the bride) to know that this was a couple that encompassed the meaning of true love in every sense. Laura, Mike (and Nancy) wanted the day to be as perfect as their love.

Wedding day morning began early at The Palmer House Hilton. The ladies gathered in Laura’s suite while the guys assembled in Mike’s.  Jayme, Jennica, and Sophia from Ann LaCorte Hair and Makeup Design were well into hair and makeup by late morning and George Street Photo and Video was lucky enough to capture the beauty of the day.

The ladies helped Laura into her stunning gown that truly fit like a glove.  As Nancy Krause Floral and Design arrived with flowers it seemed all the pieces were falling into place just perfectly. The bouquets were filled with antique hydrangea, white and desert sand roses, soft pink peonies and gray brunia.  The flowers created the perfect contrast to the ladies’ navy blue gowns.

Before the ceremony, the ladies were able to slip away and take some photos around town.  In true Chicago fashion they paid homage to the World Series Champion Chicago Cubs just six days after they had taken their new title.

The ceremony was held in the Honore Room of The Palmer House Hilton. The room’s breathtaking vaulted ceiling and chandeliers created a magnificent backdrop for Laura and Mike to say I do. The service was filled with personal touches, heartfelt vows, laughter, and tears of joy. It wasn’t long before they stomped the glass and were off as Mr. and Mrs. Michael Zimmerman!  Mazel Tov!

Laura, Mike, and their families took photos around the Palmer House Hilton while final touches were being made in the Empire Room for the night’s festivities.  The room had a certain glow to it that was similar to Laura and Mike’s. You could just feel the love from family and friends.

Laura and Mike kicked off the reception while dancing to “XO” by John Mayer.  They cut their remarkable cake created by Cake Chicago, listened to heartfelt speeches which made everyone laugh and cry, and enjoyed an outstanding dinner of Filet Mignon crafted by Palmer House’s chefs. In no time at all, Toast and Jam DJs had all of the guests dancing away into the night.

As the night came to an end it was made certain that this day full of love would transpire into a lifetime of happiness. Laura and Mike, it was a pleasure working with you we wish you all the best!

Ovation Wedding–Erica and Brent

July 4, 2016

Eric and Brent’s wedding celebration was one of the most joy-filled events I’ve had the pleasure to be a part of! Laughter, sighs, and cheers filled the air with a wonderful energy as these two said their “I dos” and celebrated with their closest loved ones!

Erica and Brent spent their wedding weekend at the historic Palmer House Hilton in downtown Chicago. With her family and best friends around her, Erica and the ladies spent the morning enjoying brunch, sipping champagne, and being pampered by hair stylist, Jenny Villacis, and makeup artist, Andie Cumber. Meanwhile, Brent and his groomsmen went to brunch before making their way back to the hotel to get ready.

With the help of her Mother and Maid of Honor, Erica slipped into her gorgeous wedding gown, hand-crafted by Mignonette Bridal, and draped an elegant strand of pearls around her neck. She was an absolutely stunning bride!

Soon it was time for Erica and Brent’s first look! With a toast, the ladies were out the door. Amy Jo Royall Photography had Brent outside waiting for Erica under the iconic awning of the Palmer House Hilton. Despite being on a busy street, the moment they locked eyes it was as if they were the only ones there. They were brought back to reality when a sweet couple passing by offered their congratulations!

Soon the family and wedding party joined in for a photo shoot outside of the hotel. Amy Jo Royall Photography was able to capture the joy and enthusiasm for this marriage! Even those who were far away were still able to a part of the celebration. It was so special to see this couple completely surrounded by so much love!

It was time for the bride and groom to make their way the exquisite event space, Ovation, for their wedding celebration. Along with being a beautiful locale, Ovation includes a ride to the event in a classic Rolls Royce! Erica and Brent looked fantastic (and so excited) to be on their way to their wedding!

Meanwhile, as guests enjoyed delicious cocktails and hors d’oeuvres, Erica and Brent’s vendor team was hard at work setting up for the dinner reception, which turned out beautifully. Ovation’s handsome rustic long tables along with Field & Florist’s vibrant and fresh florals created a stunning ambiance that was both elegant and cozy. Carol’s Staffing helped to ensure all the service needs for the reception were taken care of expertly.

Meghan and Chris’s Globe-Trotting Wedding 04.18.15

September 30, 2015

Meghan and Chris were a couple who knew what they wanted out of their wedding day:  an intimate celebration of their love with their closest family and friends.  They wanted a reception that was representative of everything they loved most (travel, food, and friends!).  I was thrilled to be brought on board to help them fine tune their details and to create a wedding day to remember.

Meghan and Chris did not have a traditional wedding party, but they wanted to include their family members in the celebration.  Meghan started off the day at Civello Salon getting dolled up alongside her sister, mother, and Chris’s mom and sister.  Meghan truly looked like a Hollywood starlet when she gathered up her wedding gown and hopped into a cab to head to Kitchen Chicago.

Chris spent the morning relaxing in a suite at The Palmer House Hilton with his uncle and soon-to-be-father-in-law.  Chris looked so dapper in his fitted navy tux.

Meghan and her entourage finished the getting ready process at Kitchen Chicago’s bridal suite.  Her Sarah Seven gown looked like it was made of spun gold.

When it was time to begin the ceremony, Meghan and Chris’s wedding officiant, Sheri Reda of Flow Ceremonies invited all their guests to stand and introduce themselves to someone whom they had not yet met.  It started the ceremony off with an element of togetherness–something that was really important to the bride and groom.

The processional began to the smooth tunes of The Sam Trump Quartet.  Amanda and Nate of The Shalom Imaginative were able to capture the raw emotion that both Meghan and Chris displayed upon seeing one another for the first time.

Their ceremony was meaningful and included readings from family and close friends.  The backdrop created by Art of Imagination framed the space just beautifully, and upon ending guests tossed flower petals on the bride and groom as they recessed!

Cocktail hour was filled with excited and chattering guests and the sounds of Sam Trump.  Delicious hors d’oeuvres were passed and guests imbibed their choice of beverage while snapping photos with selfie sticks or using the instax cameras for their guestbook.  Chris made paper airplanes out of maps to use as their escort cards–genius!

When cocktail hour was complete, the guests headed upstairs to City View Loft for dinner service.  Each of the tables was named after a place the bride and groom had traveled together.  Meghan and Chris created their own centerpieces using florals from Steve’s Flower Market, Chris’s photographs of places they had traveled together, and votives.

After a blessing and some heartfelt toasts, Meghan, Chris and their loved ones enjoyed a delicious family style meal and great conversation.  Following dinner, the bride and groom cut their cake and officially opened the sweets table that had been tantalizing guests since they walked into the room.  With a combination of nostalgic treats like sixlets, red vines, and zebra cakes, and the gourmet additions of cupcakes from Courageous Bakery and Glazed & Infused doughnuts there was something for everyone.

After some emotional special dances with each other and their parents, the dance floor opened to all their guests.  The floor was bustling from start to finish without a lull!  DJ Eric Gupana was a fabulous addition and helped keep the party atmosphere going until the end of the night.
