Venue One Wedding–Arianna and Keith

June 29, 2016

The first meeting with Keith and Arianna was enough to tell me, this was a couple I wanted to work with! Arianna had a vision and knew exactly what she wanted–my kind of girl–while Keith was on board both for the wedding festivity fun and work that went along with it. These two made such a great team throughout the process.  Keith was always on hand to calm Arianna’s nerves, while Arianna continuously stepped up to the plate for anything thrown her way.  She was on a mission for their day to be flawless, just as a love like theirs deserved.  Their selection of Venue One made perfect sense:  Arianna and Keith embodied that “downtown Chicago cool” vibe. The state-of-the-art technology at Venue One allowed Arianna and Keith to truly personalize the space in a way I’d never seen before.  It set the stage for a picture perfect day for a wonderful couple.

When the day finally arrived everyone was ready for the festivities to begin.  The ladies gathered at Venue One bright and early for hair and makeup.  Hair and makeup artists, Andrea and Monica, truly made the ladies look stunning and wedding day ready! With the assistance of her lovely bridesmaids, Arianna put on her show-stopping gown which featured a sweetheart neckline and stunning train.  She looked just beautiful.

The ladies and gentlemen took off separately to take some fabulously styled shots around Venue One with Victoria Sprung.  They made sure to steer clear of one another so as not to spoil the moment Keith would see his bride for the first time walking down the aisle.

The day was off to a light and easy start as Venue One began its transformation for the breathtaking ceremony.  Deborah with Art of Imagination did such a phenomenal job capturing Arianna’s vision. The draping and lucite pedestals created the perfect backdrop to say “I do”.

The time had finally come, all were in place and Arianna took one last final breath before stepping out on the arm of her brother. The room was filled with tears of joy as Arianna made her way toward her groom.  The ceremony went off without a hitch and the two departed as “Mr. and Mrs.”!

It was time for the celebration to begin!  Guests sipped cocktails and noshed on delectable bites such as mini crab tacos, deviled quail eggs, tuna tartare, and crispy coconut shrimp. As guests entered the main reception and dining room they were greeted with gorgeous floral arrangements created by Oliver Dogwood Floral and unexpected beta fish swimming throughout the centerpieces.

Once seated, guests were treated to a fabulous, southern comfort inspired, dinner created by the talented chefs at Venue One.  A duo of seafood gumbo and hush puppies tantalized taste buds and were followed by an indulging dish of double fried chicken, barbecue brisket, braised collard greens and bacon bourbon molasses beans. My mouth is watering just remembering it!

Arianna and Keith’s first dance to Hi, Hey, Hello by the Chicharrones was perfect and it was very clear by the time dinner had wrapped that guests were ready to hit the dance floor.

Once the party started it was near impossible to pull our dance queen, Arianna, off the dance floor for a few twilight photos but we were determined to make it happen.  And the resulting images made our convincing all worthwhile.

The perfect end to a perfect day was marked by an adorable gift for everyone to remember the fabulous couple by:  mini “Jamerson” bottles as a nod to the new last name!

We wish the fabulous Arianna and Keith all the best in life, love, and happiness to come!

Meghan and Chris’s Globe-Trotting Wedding 04.18.15

September 30, 2015

Meghan and Chris were a couple who knew what they wanted out of their wedding day:  an intimate celebration of their love with their closest family and friends.  They wanted a reception that was representative of everything they loved most (travel, food, and friends!).  I was thrilled to be brought on board to help them fine tune their details and to create a wedding day to remember.

Meghan and Chris did not have a traditional wedding party, but they wanted to include their family members in the celebration.  Meghan started off the day at Civello Salon getting dolled up alongside her sister, mother, and Chris’s mom and sister.  Meghan truly looked like a Hollywood starlet when she gathered up her wedding gown and hopped into a cab to head to Kitchen Chicago.

Chris spent the morning relaxing in a suite at The Palmer House Hilton with his uncle and soon-to-be-father-in-law.  Chris looked so dapper in his fitted navy tux.

Meghan and her entourage finished the getting ready process at Kitchen Chicago’s bridal suite.  Her Sarah Seven gown looked like it was made of spun gold.

When it was time to begin the ceremony, Meghan and Chris’s wedding officiant, Sheri Reda of Flow Ceremonies invited all their guests to stand and introduce themselves to someone whom they had not yet met.  It started the ceremony off with an element of togetherness–something that was really important to the bride and groom.

The processional began to the smooth tunes of The Sam Trump Quartet.  Amanda and Nate of The Shalom Imaginative were able to capture the raw emotion that both Meghan and Chris displayed upon seeing one another for the first time.

Their ceremony was meaningful and included readings from family and close friends.  The backdrop created by Art of Imagination framed the space just beautifully, and upon ending guests tossed flower petals on the bride and groom as they recessed!

Cocktail hour was filled with excited and chattering guests and the sounds of Sam Trump.  Delicious hors d’oeuvres were passed and guests imbibed their choice of beverage while snapping photos with selfie sticks or using the instax cameras for their guestbook.  Chris made paper airplanes out of maps to use as their escort cards–genius!

When cocktail hour was complete, the guests headed upstairs to City View Loft for dinner service.  Each of the tables was named after a place the bride and groom had traveled together.  Meghan and Chris created their own centerpieces using florals from Steve’s Flower Market, Chris’s photographs of places they had traveled together, and votives.

After a blessing and some heartfelt toasts, Meghan, Chris and their loved ones enjoyed a delicious family style meal and great conversation.  Following dinner, the bride and groom cut their cake and officially opened the sweets table that had been tantalizing guests since they walked into the room.  With a combination of nostalgic treats like sixlets, red vines, and zebra cakes, and the gourmet additions of cupcakes from Courageous Bakery and Glazed & Infused doughnuts there was something for everyone.

After some emotional special dances with each other and their parents, the dance floor opened to all their guests.  The floor was bustling from start to finish without a lull!  DJ Eric Gupana was a fabulous addition and helped keep the party atmosphere going until the end of the night.
