CIS of Chicago’s Invest. Ignite. Inspire at The Old Post Office

If there’s one thing we love, it’s a night full of energy, joy, and purpose—and Communities In Schools of Chicago’s annual fundraiser, Invest. Ignite. Inspire. delivered all three in full force. Set against the backdrop of The Old Post Office, the event brought together generous hearts, dedicated educators, and passionate supporters, all in the name of helping Chicago students thrive.

The evening kicked off with a bustling crowd ready to connect and celebrate. Guests collected their name badges and then mingled through the beautifully lit Telegram Lounge area of Old Post Office, noshing on thoughtful bites from Food For Thought.  Posters helping guests to understand the plethora of programs that CIS offers were beautifully printed by Allegra and displayed throughout the space. Ethel Alegria joined us to take photos of the momentous evening.

When it was time for the Program to begin, guests moved across the venue to the Marquee conference center (and were offered a little snack along the way by volunteers).  The addition of a separate and enclosed space for the program was a strategic—and seamless—move this year, giving guests an ideal location to focus in and support the cause during the evening’s most impactful moments.

After a warm welcome from CIS’s CEO and a heartfelt organizational video, the program moved into high gear. The ever-charismatic Raising Paddles team led the charge during the live auction and paddle raise, with enthusiastic guests showing up in a big way for the mission. From student readings to a moving tribute for their honoree, every moment spoke to the heart of CIS of Chicago’s work: surrounding students with a community of support so they can stay in school and succeed in life. All of the audio visual production was provided by Encore who, thanks to a special connection, generously provided additional screens and production elements without added cost to CIS.

The party didn’t stop with the final paddle raise. Guests moved back into the Telegram Lounge and Library for the after party, where music, snacks, and a shared sense of purpose carried the evening into its final hours. One sweet surprise that had everyone buzzing? The crème brûlée station, courtesy of Food For Thought—an elegant, torch-to-order treat that was a perfect way to close out the evening.

This event was a one-year collaboration between CIS of Chicago and Five Grain Events, referred by Brynne Mancuso Krein of Pen to Paper Consulting (who also happens to be Joan’s neighbor—we love a good full-circle moment!). And though the planning engagement may have been temporary, the impact of the evening is anything but.

We were so honored to play a role in bringing this joyful, energetic, and truly meaningful night to life. Here’s to supporting the students who will shape our future—and to the power of community coming together for a cause that matters.
