Kerry and Jonathan’s love story blossomed in the heart of a global pandemic, where a chance encounter on Hinge led each of them to realize they had found their forever partner. In the midst of uncertainty, their relationship flourished, and just six months after meeting, they moved in together. Just before their careers took them out of Chicago and to Miami, Jonathan proposed at Big Star where they had shared their first date.
Though they had moved far away, Chicago would always be the place where their story began—and it was here they chose to celebrate their union with family and friends. Luckily for us, Kerry’s cousin, Emily, was a long-time member of the Five Grain team and pointed Kerry and Jonathan our way when it came time to decide on a wedding coordinator (and we were blessed with an extra helpful wedding guest on the day of!).
Kerry’s deep connection to her hometown led them to select St. Giles Church in Oak Park for the wedding ceremony, a place filled with sentiment as it was the very school where she spent her early years. The church provided a beautiful and meaningful backdrop for their vows, surrounded by the warmth and support of their loved ones.
For their reception, Kerry and Jonathan sought a venue that was both classic and unique, ultimately choosing the Chicago Athletic Association. With its rich history and distinct character, CAA perfectly complemented the moody and inspired atmosphere they envisioned for their celebration. The venue, steeped in Chicago’s heritage, offered the perfect blend of elegance and uniqueness that they desired.
Kerry and her mother, Sharon, worked closely together to create a stunning color palette that captured the essence of autumn. The neutral pinks with bold pops of deep burgundy created a rich and warm ambiance throughout the day. One of the most memorable details was Kerry’s nails—painted in a sophisticated taupe shade with intricate lace designs that matched her wedding dress, a subtle touch that added to the day’s beauty. Thankfully, Gabbie of Gabrielle Daylor Photography was there to expertly capture the essence of the day.
The day started early at the Chicago Athletic Association, where the wedding party gathered in the Founder’s Suite. Glam Atelier transformed Kerry and her bridesmaids into absolute visions with flawless hair and makeup. As the final touches were completed, Romee Willow Floral arrived, adding a soft, romantic touch to the morning preparations.
Kerry’s first look with her father was an emotional moment that set the tone for the day. Jonathan and his groomsmen, looking sharp in their formal attire, departed for the ceremony on a sleek Aries Charter vehicle, while Kerry and her bridesmaids followed shortly after, ensuring no glimpse was caught before the grand entrance.
The ceremony at St. Giles Church was a beautiful blend of tradition and personal touches. After the heartfelt “I dos,” the newlyweds and their guests made their way back to the Chicago Athletic Association for a cocktail hour in the Madison Room. The talented musicians from Stitely Music set the mood, creating an inviting atmosphere as guests mingled and celebrated the happy couple.
As the sun set over Chicago, Chicago Athletic Association’s White City Room was transformed into a warm and inviting setting, with elegant table settings and stunning centerpieces from Romee Willow Floral. Guests were ushered into their seats and Kerry and Jonathan kicked off the reception by cutting their beautiful cake, meticulously crafted by Cake Chicago.
The night was filled with laughter, tears of joy, and countless memorable moments, including touching dances with their parents thanks to Stitely Music. The dance floor remained the heart of the celebration through the end of the evening.
