Anticipation buzzed as guests gathered for Anixter Center’s annual fundraiser—this time in its bold new home at Venue West, Chicago’s industrial-chic gem. With its flexible layout, seamless AV capabilities, and neutral palette, it was the ideal canvas for a night of Pure Imagination themed around Willy Wonka’s vibrant fantasy world.
In the hours leading up to showtime, the Five Grain Events team, alongside Venue West’s onsite AV crew, began transforming the space. Golden Tickets, bid paddles, artistically themed signage printed by Bishop Image Group, and colorful backdrops began aligning perfectly. Soon after, Beyond Catering arrived to elevate the taste experience, while the valet and coat check crew from VIP Valet ensured a warm, smooth welcome for every guest. Cameras captured early excitement as OkBritknee Photography arrived to freeze the action in place.
By 5:15 pm, the spirited Raising Paddles auctioneer team had taken their places around a space that had truly come alive. Champagne cocktails were poured, hors d’oeuvres began circulating, and the air vibrated with upbeat tracks.
When the lights dimmed for the program, guests were captivated by heartfelt storytelling and commanding auction calls by Dan Campbell. Once the fundraising was complete, we unveiled a “make-your-own” candy buffet donated by Amy’s Candy Bar. The room lit up with joy—donors of all ages piled their bags high with gummies, chocolates, and sour treats, tying a sweet ribbon around an already impactful evening.
As if that weren’t enough milkshakes with a sweet candy topper were passed to all remaining guests. Fundraising totals exceeded expectations, proving just how vibrant, successful, and downright fun Pure Imagination could be. With heartfelt thanks to Anixter Center and all participants, the night closed on a sweet note—and a delightful reimagining of what a fundraising gala can be.
