Scott and Kris are truly two of the sweetest people I have ever met, and working with them to plan their beautiful wedding at The Ivy Room was a dream. They are head-over-heels in love, and did not let a single moment of their wedding planning process get in the way of celebrating the reason they were tying the knot.
When I arrived at The Langham on wedding day morning, the mood was serene. Angelica and Jen from Nika Vaughan Bridal Artists were putting the finishing touches on the girls’ hair and makeup and they all looked lovely. Anna Guziak added to the peaceful atmosphere as she quietly captured each moment.

Scott and his groomsmen hung out together at Scott and Kris’s condo nearby. Despite the impending rain, the gents walked over to hotel so that the soon-to-be-newlyweds could share their first look in the Langham’s stunning lobby.

After their special moment (and perhaps a few tears on both sides) the group ubered to a couple spots for photos and then headed to the lovely Ivy Room to get out of the rain and finish up family photos.

The room was set beautifully for their wedding ceremony complete with a graceful birch arch and candlelit aisle from May Floral and french country chairs from The Ivy Room. The welcome sign and paper items were expertly designed by Studio M Creations and fit the aesthetic to a “t”.

When the ceremony was set to begin, the wedding party lined up and we were off. Cal Denison of Chicago Wedding Officiants performed a meaningful service wedding Kris and Scott. Our favorite part was the whiskey aging ceremony where each poured a carafe of unaged whiskey into a small barrel–they get to open the cask on their first anniversary! So unique and very apropos to a couple of whisk aficionados.

Once Scott and Kris had said “I do!” it was time to party. Cocktail hour was held in The Ivy Room’s renovated lower level which looked warm and inviting buzzing with all of Scott and Kris’s loved ones.

The table decor created by May Floral were exactly as Kris had envisioned with a mix of purples, pinks, and grays. Each of the Studio M Creations designed table numbers also represented a Chicago area neighborhood. Elegant Event Lighting provided the cafe lights strung over the dance floor emitting a warm glow.

Dinner was absolutely delectable and served with precision thanks to the Ivy Room staff (owned by Lettuce Entertain You–so no surprise there!). Family members and close friends toasted the newlyweds and every single toasted mentioned how palpable Kris and Scott’s love for one another is: I couldn’t agree more!

Following dinner, Karin from Toast & Jam DJs kicked off the dancing portion and there was joy radiating throughout the space through the end of the reception. Anyone who needed a short break from the dance floor could be found noshing on the impressive dessert spread (from Bang Bang Pies, Do-Rite Donuts, and Sprinkles Cupcakes), munching the late night hot dogs and french fries from Ivy Room or the pizza from Pizzeria Uno (a last-minute addition thanks to the Father of the Groom). And if, even after all of that, you were still hungry, there were bags of Nuts on Clark popcorn waiting to be taken on the way out.
