One thing we always tell our clients: you cannot predict what the weather will be like in Chicago, no matter the time of year. For instance, when you picture a February wedding in Chicago, you are probably expecting snow and chilly temperatures not a sunny, 60-degree day! That’s just what Kelly and Chad got for their mid-February wedding — clear blue, sunny skies, and a high temperature in the mid-sixties!
Bizarre (but totally welcome!) weather aside, it was a perfect day from start to finish. Kelly and Chad had a non-traditional start to their wedding day morning, choosing to get ready together rather than separating until their first look or ceremony. They were laughing all day while Kelly and her mother had their hair and makeup done by the lovely ladies of We Only Do Pretty, and enjoyed breakfast together.

Soon it was time to head to Salvage One for some pre-ceremony photos. Windy City Limo picked up Kelly, Chad, and their families from Hilton Chicago, and they were on their way! The FGE team got started on the ceremony and reception set-up while Kelly and Chad explored Salvage One with their photographer from Windy City Production. We love how many unique places there are to take portraits throughout this west town venue. After photos, Kelly and Chad still had plenty of time to relax with family before guests started to arrive for the ceremony.

The team at Ashland Addison added some simple, understated decor to compliment the elements provided by the couple. We loved all the dried lavender — from Kelly’s bouquet to the cocktail and table arrangements sprinkled throughout the space. It was just a touch of color and scent to elevate the statement the venue makes on its own. The aisle was set with lanterns, and as we turned down the lights it signaled the ceremony was about to begin!

Kelly and Chad chose Green Line Talent DJs to provide the music for their ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception: they did an incredible job. From seamlessly timing the ceremony processional to providing ambient music while guests mixed and mingled during cocktails, and transitioning from the first to the second floor, they were on their game.

Immediately after the ceremony, guests were treated to hors d’oeuvres and cocktails from Beyond Events Catering, and chatted amidst the vintage and eclectic furniture and decor of Salvage One.

Dinner and dancing took place upstairs. Guests were welcomed by an incredibly warm, cozy setting — the Mother of the Bride had lovingly curated a collection of candles, vases, and lace runners to tie in with the vintage feel of the venue. Ashland Addison added sprigs of dried lavender to complete the intimate look.

Once all the guests had taken their seats, it was time for introductions and toasts. The delightfully charming Mother of the Bride gave a heartfelt welcome toast, followed by a hilarious “roast” by Father of the Groom.

Throughout dinner, Kelly and Chad visited with their guests before it came time for their first dance and dances with their parents. Shortly thereafter, the dance floor opened — and this was a crowd that knew how to bust some moves! The bride and groom were no exception, completely surrounded by high energy and laughter all night long.

It was so much fun being a part of this easy-going celebration! We wish Kelly and Chad all the best in their marriage, and hope they’ve enjoyed taking a look back on their wedding day as much as we have.
