Savage Smyth Wedding – Kristin and Sean

April 27, 2017

We were so excited when Kristin and Sean came to us for help bringing the details together for their Savage Smyth wedding — their laid-back aesthetic and killer choice of venue were perfect for a fall wedding. The rooftop at Savage Smyth is absolutely breathtaking, and we all had our fingers crossed that the unpredictable Chicago weather would cooperate so we could take full advantage!

Kristin and her bridesmaids spent the morning at The Circle Salon getting their hair styled, while Brian Sutherby  made sure everyone looked and felt their most beautiful. The ladies then made their way to Savage Smyth to get dressed in their finery before heading off for photos around Lincoln Park. Austin O’Brien Photography was onsite to capture all the details, and his relaxed demeanor kept everyone calm as the excitement for the day was building.

While Sean and his groomsmen were waiting for the Midwest Transit System trolley to take them to the first look spot, they took the opportunity to grab a drink at HQ Beercade, just around the corner from Savage Smyth.

We absolutely love how bright and lush the colors are in these first look photos!

The group took a few more photos together around the park before making their way back to Savage Smyth.

Kristin and Sean were sure to snag a few photos on Kristin’s scooter in front of the venue — and these images perfectly capture how playful and fun these two are.

Flowers for Dreams was the perfect choice for Kristin and Sean — the company’s mission tied in seamlessly with Kristin and Sean’s passion for others, plus they nailed the couple’s aesthetic vision!

Soon it was time for the ceremony, and guests were treated to a breathtaking view of Chicago while Kristin and Sean exchanged vows. The weather threatened to dampen the mood, but thankfully cleared up quickly. Musicians from Belle Music set the tone for a heartfelt ceremony, and shortly thereafter, Sean and Kristin were officially married!

During cocktail hour, guests enjoyed drinks and hors d’oeuvres from Big Delicious Planet while Dan from Cage & Aquarium provided the perfect ambient music.

To take full advantage of the incredible view, Kristin and Sean decided to surprise their guests and share their first dance under the stars (and full moon!).

For the reception, Kristin chose a selection of farm tables from Hall’s to compliment the natural beauty of Savage Smyth.  They were adorned with simple runners and gorgeous florals from Flowers for Dreams. Sound Investment provided some uplighting to help warm the space, and the eclectic mix of objects that call Savage Smyth home rounded out the overall design.

We’re still amazed at this custom bar that the groom built by hand — fully stocked with booze from Binny’s, and even featured a light strip under the eave to keep guests coming back for more cocktails throughout the night!

During dinner, Kristin and Sean’s nearest and dearest shared a few toasts — one of which was in the form of a surprise song!

After a couple more formal dances with Kristin, Sean, and their family members, it was time to party!

Cage & Aquarium kept everyone busy on the dance floor — thankfully, Pizza Metro delivered some extra sustenance for the late-night crowd and did not disappoint!

Mindy’s Hot Chocolate put together quite the spread for dessert, and guests were not shy about sampling from the assortment of cookies, brownies, and cupcakes!

We wish Kristin and Sean years of happiness together, and are so happy they chose us to help them celebrate their special day!
