It was such a treat working with Siobhan and Evan on their wedding this past April. Siobhan had a clear vision of what she wanted for her wedding day, and she was organized to boot! She and groom-to-be, Evan, also live in Logan Square and were excited to work with a locally-owned planning company to help bring the details together.
The day started beautifully with all the bridesmaids getting ready together at the historical Palmer House Hilton – a location partially chosen because of the amazing engagement Evan planned for Siobhan (more on that in a bit!). Siobhan’s talented friend Lauren (of Lauren Ashton Makeup) did the ladies’ makeup, while the accomplished Alexis of The Indigo Room Salon did all the updos. Surrounded by her dearest friends, future in-laws, and family members, Siobhan was glowing from the minute we saw her until the very end of the night!

Michelle Lytle Photography captured some truly incredible photos of Siobhan and Evan’s first look. They chose the roof of the Palmer House, as that’s where Evan had carefully set-up his proposal message, “Marry Me?” in twinkle lights, across the street from their former high-rise residence in downtown Chicago. We love the shots of Siobhan looking effortlessly chic in her wedding dress amidst the industrial “back of house” area of the hotel. To help Siobhan and Evan remember their wedding festivities, Chicago Videography captured the special moments throughout the day.

The wedding party traveled in style thanks to Windy City Limo to a few classic Chicago locations for their photos. They got some gorgeous shots at both Adler Planetarium and the Chicago lakefront on their way to Zhou B Art Center for the ceremony and reception.

Siobhan and Evan are big fans of the Zhou brothers, and were ecstatic to be able to share the incredible artistry with their friends and family throughout their wedding day.

The ceremony was filled with heartfelt personal touches, from the talented Wellington String Ensemble who expertly played some original music composed by a member of Siobhan’s family, to incorporating a blessing from Siobhan’s great uncle, a priest in Ireland, who was not able to attend the festivities. Rev. Dennis Condon led the service, and thoughtfully wove Siobhan and Evan’s personality into their ceremony. The aisles were lined with framed photos of Evan and Siobhan from their early childhood to present day, and truly brought home the feeling of the road they took to arrive to each other. The ceremony backdrop was beautifully constructed by Art of Imagination, who also provided the warm purple-hued glow and café style up-lighting for the reception space.

After the ceremony concluded, guests were invited into the foyer and galleries, where they were able to mix and mingle while enjoying drinks and appetizers from Kenmare Catering among custom art pieces by the Zhou brothers. Siobhan included elements of her Chinese heritage with a red guestbook for her guests to sign.

Guests were welcomed into the main reception space by the music of Gold Coast DJs’ Jena Nixon, and gorgeous centerpieces created by Flowers for Dreams. The art installation that was up during their wedding was called “Freak Out” and Siobhan and Evan loved this playful backdrop that greeted their loved ones as they entered the room.

Siobhan’s father thanked guests for celebrating with his family, and loving toasts were delivered by both Siobhan’s cousin and maid of honor and Evan’s best man.

Kenmare Catering delivered a delicious meal, which was followed by a delightful (and beautiful!) cake from Alliance Bakery. Jena of Gold Coast DJs had guests up and dancing in no time! Siobhan’s maid of honor amazed us with her spot-on rendition of Lady Gaga’s Romance! Concept One Photo Booth opened after dinner for a chance for guests to ham it up in front of the camera. Rounding out the props display were photo cut-outs of friends and family who couldn’t make it to the wedding–definitely made for some memorable photos!

Guests were also treated to tasty favors from the bride and groom – macaroons home-made by Siobhan’s cousin! Just another example of how beautifully integrated the couple’s family and friends were into this wedding. Siobhan and Evan, we loved helping bring all the details together for your wedding day! We wish you both the best in your long, happy marriage together – thank you for choosing Five Grain Events to help you coordinate your big day!
